The music video we will be remaking is called We're Rollin by the K.I.G Family which is on a lot of different music channels.
The reason why I chose to remake this video is because it’s very different to all the other music videos that are put now. I believe that it is a bit harder to make than all the other music videos because it is so much different. However I also believe that the music video is also simple to remake, I say this because I believe that the things we need are very easy to get access to and very cheap if we need to spend some money.
In order to remake the music video we need a lot of people this might be a little hard because a lot of people have different things to do in their spare time. We also need a lot of space and time to remake this video because we want the remake to be very successful.

Smooth Criminal
Smooth Criminal is another of my favourite music video. When I watch this I analysis it and see what Michael Jackson really sends the message to the audience. In the music video, from the moment he walks through the door everyone in the club stop and stair at him, Michael then flicks a coin at the jukebox and then his music starts to play and everyone is dancing.
The song contains a fast-peace beat intertwined with Jackson's lyrics about a woman named Annie, who has been attacked in her apartment by a ‘smooth’ assailant.
Chorus:
Annie Are You Ok
So, Annie Are You Ok
Are You Ok, Annie
Annie Are You Ok
So, Annie Are You Ok
Are You Ok, Annie
Annie Are You Ok
So, Annie Are You Ok
Are You Ok, Annie
Annie Are You Ok
So, Annie Are You Ok, Are You Ok, Annie
(Annie Are You Ok)
(Will You Tell Us That You're
Ok)
(There's A Sign In The
Window)
(That He Struck You-A
Crescendo Annie)
(He Came Into Your
Apartment)
(He Left The Bloodstains On
The Carpet)
(Then You Ran Into The
Bedroom)
(You Were Struck Down)
(It Was Your Doom)
You've Been Hit By
You've Been Hit By-
A Smooth Criminal
I really like the music video becasue of the dancing, and the fact that the song suites the setting of the place, and the clothing including Michael Jackson. In my music video I wish to add in the way the camera angle is. For example in Smooth Criminal there are some high camera angles and low camera angle.
Music Video P.diddy ft Pharrell- d.i.d.d.y
This is one of my favourite music video. Analysing the music video, the message that the artist is sending across to the audience is that the singer is stating his name and who he is. There are a group of dancers P.diddy dancing with including girls. This sends a message that P.diddy is wealthy because of the cloths his wearing, and has a lot of friends his dancing with. He then looks at the mirror looking at himself, and then it switches to the music video.
I also looked at the lyrics he says in the song he sings and he spells his name in the chorus: Its the D the I the D the D the Y
The D the I the D
It's Diddy, (Hold Up) It's Diddy (That's crazy)
It's the D the I the D the D the Y
The D the I the D
Its Diddy, (Hold Up), It's Diddy (Say What!)
This chorus goes on while the perfumers dance with P.Diddy in the music video celebrating his name. I like the the music vedeo because as the camera switches to another person dancing the screen flashes 'D.I.D.D.Y' which is a good idea since the name of the song is called 'D.I.D.D.Y'. In this music video the thing that I would want to use in my own video is the dancing. I like the dancing and I would like to dance like all of them in the video.
Like a Prayer
An example we looked was Madonna’s music video and the lyrics. This was band in the UK before and we looked at this because it was a good example on how her message in her lyrics and in her music video came out and gave some wrong ideas to the viwers. When you look at the lyrics of her song, the chorus:
When you call my name it’s like a little prayer
I’m down on knees, I wanna take you there
In the midnight hour I can feel your power
Just like a prayer you know I’ll take you there
It was a very fine example becasue Modonna's 'Like a prayer' music video at the time that it was released it was a huge hit on the music charts. Still today 'Like a Prayer' is a very well known song. At this time, it was the centre of controversy with parent groups, church groups, mainstream media and the government.
In the opening scences of the video you see Madonna witness a crime and a black man coming to help the women just in the time when the cops get there. The black man is arrested for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The black man was totally innocnet and infact wanted to help the women.
So Modonna goes to the church where she prayers to the black Jeusus, which also looks like the hero earlier. Jesus was an innocnet and sin free person wrongly accused of crimes that he did not commit. This is the connection that Madonna was trying to establish with the black Jesus.
When Madonna dozes off on the church bench she has a dream of being in haven and then she is infront of burning crosses. Burning crosses are usally synonymous with the KKK. The media and the church thought that she was promoting the KKK, which is one of the reasons they band her music video in the UK. But Madonna was trying again to establish the assult on innocence and the content of the burning crosses and the black Jesus fits in.

Last Year Media Studies
Last year felt exciting for me because I was thinking in my head that I would be watching films, music and many more that got to do with entertainment, and this got me excited to learn this interesting subject. I learnt a lot of different things, for example the Hypodermic needle theory which is how we take media into our mind and that it would be difficult to control it and it is very easy to copy the actions of what he have either watched, heard etc. The other things that I learnt were the video game industry and how they have developed. This topic interested me because it made me see how violent video games can control most people to copy the action which is why I believe that the killing on the streets is based on people practicing on violent video games. The whole class studied this and watched clippings of how to boys killed the whole school just because they played most violent games and practised it.
Our media group had many strength and weakness as a group last year. Our strength was that we were able arrange dates and times to do the settings of our thriller movie outside of school hours because this meant that we were able to spend more time on the project and catch up on the time our group had missed out on.
Our mission was to create a 3 minute thriller movie trailer and edit it. In order for our group to succeed in creating this and going it well was that we had to plan and structure our work very carefully. We all sat down together discussing how the movie and type would be like, by writing the scripts, drawing storyboard on how the movie would be and writing down the settings of were each of the scenes would be at.
Our weakness that our group had was that there would be times that the whole group would be lazy to do the work and give excuses to leave the work another time. This year we have learnt our lesson that when there is work to do we have to get it done and be consistent at all times. Although we planned the movie scenes I believe that another weakness was that we wasn’t able to create a very good movie all because we left work till the end and was rushing at the end. This year we would organise our self’s and do the work right.
After reviewing on my based performance and the stuff that I'm working today in A Level I think that I can do well and get a better grade. The things that we are learning are the music video and why some of the videos were band in this country. This is very interesting because we analyse the music and look both the lyrics and music video to analyse why it was band the fist place.

HIGH SCHOOL MEDIA PROJECT
This year’s media course I’m doing now is basically focusing on music video. We started this term by looking at the history of the music videos and how they came about. The whole class researched on the music videos since when it fist came about to the present time. I have learnt that a music video is a short film or video that accompanies a complete piece of music/song, which is why music video came about to the audience. I went on the learn a lot about the music technology for example in the 1950’s the visual jukebox was invented in France and short music films were produced by many French artist. This was then used to spread to other countries and similar machines. After looking at how the history of the music video came about we all went to look at how it had developed and the most expensive music video that was made.
In 1964, The Beatles cemented their newfound international fame by starring in their first feature film A Hard Day's Night, directed by Richard Lester. Shot in black and white and presented as a mock documentary, it was a loosely structured musical fantasia interspersing comedic and dialogue sequences with exciting and innovative musical sequences. The musical sequences furnished the basic templates on which countless subsequent promo clips and music videos were modelled and it has exerted a huge influence on the style and visual vocabulary of the genre.
Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson – scream music video was the most expensive cost because of the spaceship and the gravitational things that was going on etc. I believe that music video has change and how this has changed people around the world because it gets people excited whenever they see a music video of today, but not when it first came out because it was boring then.
We look at different types of music video and then analyse it in details along with the lyrics as well. When we look deep into the music video’s we focus on the message of the song and what the message is trying to draw across to the viewers and listener. The materials also matter in analysing the music videos.

LAST YEAR MEDIA PROJECT.
AS Media last year was quite different in a way in terms of the two course work I had done and the written exam. What I mean by this is that our media group last year was not serious in the work we produced and this really effected us of what we did in the two course work and our grades. I believe that we could have put more effect I our work and organised our plans in the course works. This year I have thought that our group have to do much better than last year and focus in our all our tasks because last year I noticed that our group was easily distracted and sometimes we didn’t finish our work. We have spoken together as a group that we need to be serious this year and properly work as a team together.
Our media group had many strength and weakness as a group last year. Media Studies This Year.
This year we are going to focus more on the media task project fully and get what we need to do for the project done, so that we don’t leave it to the last minute and then late in the term we don’t want to start catching up and rushing the work, because we wouldn’t do it properly.
Our Media project for this year is to create a portfolio of media items that consist of a Music Video, Radio Advert and a CD case.
For our task of creating the music video we as a group came to the decision that we would remake the music video for K.I.G featuring Wiley – We’re Rollin’. We decided that the overall theme of the video would be o show the wealth of the characters in accordance with the title of the song.
We firstly took inspiration from other music videos such as Lil Wayne & Birdman – Stuntin like my Daddy, Ludicrous – Money Maker, Rick Ross – Everyday I’m Hustling’ and Lil Wayne – Get Money. We as a group analysed these videos and made a plan on how to incorporate aspects of the videos in a way in which would bring an original feel to our video but bring a sense of post modernism as there would be references to these other videos.
Postmodernism is related to the term “modernism”. “Post” means to come after. In other words, post-modern thought is that which comes after or develops from modernistic thought. Firstly one has to understand modernism.
Modernism refers to a certain period of western cultural, artistic and sociological history. This period covers the later nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Modernism is a vague and general term that refers to a period of great change in the western world. This change refers mainly to an alteration in thinking and a development of different views of reality. There are a number of historical factors that are important in understanding of modernism. One of the main factors that precipitated this radical change in thinking was the First World War. This war was so devastating and, with the introduction of modern technology, tanks and planes, it changed the perception of Europeans towards their authorities and led them to question the powers that be and the “establishment”. Something must be wrong, they thought, when almost an entire generation of young Englishmen was exterminated for no real purpose
As a term Postmodernism is difficult to define as it covers a wide range of disciplines and general areas of thought, usually Technology.
Postmodern thought is, in its very essence, an adventure and an expression of life experience. From its modernist beginnings, Postmodernism is an attempt to question the world that we see around us and especially not to take other people’s views as the final truth. Postmodernism puts everything into question and radically interrogates philosophies, strategies and world views. There is no such thing as a definition of the postmodern. It is a mood rather than a strict discipline. Postmodernism, with all its complexity and possible excesses, is an attempt to find new and more truthful versions of the world.
Postmodernism is believed when old things are developed and improved to by the same idea and same invention but people have just added on new ideas and technology development to the first one.
An example I could give is that a film I watched called Pulp Fiction was basically an old film but they renewed it.
Iterxuaialtiy is involved because we as people for example, when we watch a film and when the film finishes they intertexual it which means it doesn’t matter what anyone think but only what they think where is a word called pastiche.
In its reaction against Modernist ideals such as auto telic art and the original masterpiece, postmodern writing and art emphasize devices such as pastiche and parody and the stylized technique of the antinovel and magic realism. Postmodernism has also led to a proliferation of critical theories, most notably deconstruction and its offshoots, and the breaking down of the distinction between "high" and "low" culture.
Another example I could say is that in the game industry the play station I had is basically the same old but it’s the way the game industry makers develop it because its basically really old but people adding on new ideas onto the game, for example making the graphics more realistic, adding real sound onto the game. Also making new games to the console that has been added new features into the game and console. Another example is online gaming has been added to the game history and people would be able to play other people around the world.

Our Music Video- The brief and research.
In our music video we discussed the target audience for our music video and we came up an answer as to young teenagers from 16 and above. This is because young teenagers enjoy the beat and rhythm of the funky tune which is what our music video is.
The video will start off with the music playing non diegetically and at a low volume with just the vocals as it is not the main focus of the video at the start. While the camera shot resolves from black towards the shot of one of our characters in bed. Camera shot then moves to a different house and a close up shot to show the wealth of the next character by showing items such as phones, watches, jewellery and money on a table in the room. This is to stereotype this character as wealthy so that the audience can immediately form an opinion and understanding of the character without having any background knowledge of the character. The character will then have a close shot of the back of him looking in his wardrobe deciding what to wear. The next camera shot will again be a different location showing our third and final main character walking towards the car then getting a phone call from the second character. The conversation is short and sharp, the subject being that of arranging to meet. The phone call is ended whilst the third character is in the car with the door open. A close up shot of him turning on the radio beginning the start of the music diegetically with bass and treble include. The third character then shuts the door with a close up shot of his hand, this shot is then replicated in the very next scene, the camera shot showing him opening the door by the first character having woken, changed and travelled in his own car, this part of the storyline will not be divulged and would be expected to be logically figured out by the audience. This is part of post modernism as the plot isn’t entirely in chronological order.
Our media group decided that our front cover music video would split the cover into four and have our pictures in the each square and our picture would be in black and white. We got that idea from the film cover Scarface when it split the sides black and white. This would relate to postmodern because we are using old style on to the new music CD cover.
In our music video I understand that we had to include a variety of camera shoot like over the shoulder shoot when the camera is filming just over the person’s shoulder, high and low angle shoots. Zoom, zoom out shoots and there are many more that we used that is seen in our music video. I believe that this is important, not lonely we get extra marks but also allow to the viewers to watch shoots in the characters own angle shoot and point of view,
When filming editing was need doing because this allowed use to put the scenes we filmed in order and make it fit and play in the same rhythm as the music. There was a bit that we had to cut out that was not needed and also another reason is because the music video would be long enough to show the full clip. I understand that editing is needed because the programme allows you to add and put in different cool effects, for example when the end of a scene of the music video finished I was able to put in a transition fade effect to make the clip smooth and in rhythm of the music that is playing allow with the clip. Also editing can control the lighting and this I believe is important because I was taught that the high and low key lighting gives suspense to the viewers.

Planning the production
When we started the project our group was told that we would be creating a music video. When we decided to do a music video on “We’re Rollin” we had initial ideas and so we brainstormed the ideas on a piece of paper and wrote were the location was going to be set, what time of the day would we want it to be at, our dress code we would be wearing in the music video.
After that was sorted I had the responsibility to draw of ideas as a storyboard. This had to be draw with different camera shoots that we were going to film and the story to the music video. The storyboard had many different camera shoots of use in different passions.
The organisation of the group was very well organised to be honest because we all had a time table to meet after school hours and film the music video which was the big major problem we thought it would be. Not only meeting to film, after times we would set together structuring the editing of the music video and along side it the website. As a group, we knew that time was against use and also knew that if we left the work down to one person the amount of work wouldn’t be enough and it wouldn’t be fair on the person. Our planning was organised because when we sat together as a group we discussed the project and what we were going to do for it.
Video
When it came to planning our music video, We’re Rollin, we communicated with each other and then discussed the situation where the location would take place. This was important because we didn’t want any other people to be in the film shots other than the four characters staring in the music video Also the space was included in our discussion of our planning, because we needed place to do the dance scene. Bearing in mind the different camera angle shots are also important to include shots like high angle shot, track shot and pan shot.
CD Cover
The planning for the CD cover I thought was the most hardest because when we sat together we came up with the idea to make the CD cover looks Post Modern. Kofi came up with the idea to look at the Scarface since this is an old film, we wanted to use the style of the cover when it is black and white and used it in our CD cover. We took pictures and edited it on Photoshop to make it similar to the Scarface cover and but the pictures of our image black and white.
Radio Advert
As a group we planned what we was going to say in the radio, because we had to promote the CD cover we created and make the single sound really good by making comments that “the music would blow your mind” this would interest the audience.
Targeting – radio allows messages to be tailored and localised to each audience. Advertisers can target their message to specific demographics and communities, geographic areas, and around events and genres in a market; therefore reducing wasted advertising messages.
Website
There wasn’t really a plan to the website we created. But we did some research and looked at other professional websites to get ideas of how our website could look like. Example like Jay-Z, Michael Jackson and many more. We looked at links that were included like the introduction, the Fan page and galleries. In our website we also planned to add things of our own.

Letter requesting permission to use copyright music video.
Before I can use the track in my music video, I must get permission from the company who wn the copyright for the recording, so I sent this letter to them to enquire if myself and my group can use it. This is the letter I am to e-mail to them:
Dear Sir or Madam:
My name is Henry Adefemi. I am a high school senior studying Media Studies at All Saints school, London, Engalnd. The project we have been set for our coursework is to make a music video for a song of our choice. The song we would like to use is K.I.G ft Wiley, 'We're Rollin', which we find you have the rights to.
There is no interst to sell or misuse the music video in anyway. We do not have any intention to make money or profits from this. We can assure you that this is purely to be used with our projects.
Would you please therefore grant us permission for my group and I to use the song 'We're Rollin' in our assigment?

Story Board Drawings
I did a storyboard, showing what the shots would look like on our music video. The shots that I have drawn are the important ones and would be show. The shots that I have included is a medium shot, Over the shoulder shot close up shot and extreme close up shot. These are the key camera angle shots that we thought is important because is brings interesting point of views when we watch the music video.

CD cover
One of our assignments was to create a CD cover for our music single promoting it. I think the CD cover we created is interesting because, the way we made it related to the whole theme postmodernism and we wanted it and purposely did it that way. If you see the pictures in black and white mainly because we got that idea from the film scare face’s video cover and this relates to postmodernism idea because the film is old and adding old idea style like the scare face video cover into our CD cover is called patches. We used Photoshop to help create the CD cover and add in also different effects to develop the cover and make it look professional like he barcode, text and mainly the images of us. Our music video would match the proposed CD cover because on the cover there is a little black bag we purposely put there because in the music video it’s self the black bag appears in the video a lot the it also gives the viewers suspense to what is in the bag but they find out at the end for themselves.
Basically our CD cover shows that it’s Post Modern because of the way it looks, by tall the three guys in black and white. As I said that we got this style from the film cover scare face, this is an idea of the past and we have re-designed it in a newer version and because the song it new.
Also I was the only person familiar with the programme Photoshop so I had the leadership and reasonability to show the rest of my group members how to use Photoshop. Kofi did the job in uploading the pictures and making sure that the pictures were measures the same and fitted so that the CD cover case is the right size. Justice’s job was to do the text and write the title of the music video. My job was the biggest because I had to do the effects and on the pictures and texts to make sure they stand out. This was alright for me because I was used to it and already had experience in doing this, the others got the hang of it and was able to do there job very well.

Step by step CD cover- Photoshop
I did a step by step to show evidence of how the group created the CD cover and showing the steps of how I made the effects appear in the CD cover to make it look like the original Scarface.
This is the Scarface image that our group wanted to make similar as our own CD cover. We purposely wanted it like this because the Post modernism was related because the Scarface is an old film and we wanted to bring the same idea of the black and white style into our renewed CD cover.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsPtu4LsG12ATNJdtB7VRCBHK47MMzbVeYlxBMALBc9A7zAikopmqUrtfAfvHMpWWcmXuW5lVfJC6DHa8ykJXfJ0WXc4lZLOLd6Rzxsq5nmR71A-7vS60o5pP-xwlmWXNUopnZ-JCSRr4/s320/scarface+PICTURE.jpg)
For the fist step we took pictures of our self and scanned it onto the computer programme Photoshop and added the effects of use in black and white.
We did the same thing to all the pictures like effects and adjusted the size of the picture so that it would fit in the square were the page is split in half.
For the text we added a glow effect to a red and made effective, we also showed a step how we did which we went to layer then layer style and the options were there to control the adjustments and lightings to make it look clear.
The second thing we did was that after all of the image of our self we had to make sure all the size were fitted in side the square. I came up with my own idea that parts of our image we should have different colour for example the image on the top left, his watch is pink and the top right the gun is red and for the bottom left his watch is blue. We also put this on the bag as well for a reason because to also bring suspense to the audience. The bag is also in the music video and we wanted to include it in the CD cover.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzo21B0ewdpO7z1Y91aVwdvK5qe-hgogP7psi_eilnpHs-3gn6U1lA0BvBckoGFR_tqf6oJbrxMhMT5EYAPlGDdZNvsxKJWhRIYTrYkb7V4OWnJ1HrkojQIW5MxHSxvWxHiZHOZt3vH0Q/s320/BAG+PHOTO.bmp)
Next was the text that we put in stating who were are and the name of the song that we are promoting. The text was made on PhotoShop and the effetcts came from it. What I did was selscted the syle of write to old engilsh and clicked on the layer of the text and added the effects to make it K.I.G look like the words echo.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE-ljhubFvLlo98sV9iezg3EshCO7lYxLoA6WQF2gEsdaQotaphjQAKlM9rkwpfwIgv7wI-o_p0H8EdAMoFjKfkO_3lT-0mRfMQrDj0kEnWsYaSISrx-i71XPs4gAKQiUCZ2_knrK7L90/s320/LAYER.bmp)

Constructing the production
Really during the whole making of the project, we as a group just went along with it. There was times when we would decide what we had to do in difficult situations, for example when we had to change the way our story line of the music video so that it would make sense, but other than that the little minor things like what we would do in the scene was all going along with it, and it was fun because we also heard other ideas of the group and laugh around thinking it would be a good idea.
The storyboard we changed that because we then realised that in the video is has to be Post Modern so we changed most of the scene. This was discussed by the group and was thought about really hard. We kept the location the same because we want that to be known as our idea.

We kept the location the same because we want that to be known as our idea. But bits of the storyline had to be changed and first we wrote each of our ideas down on a piece of paper and went through it together and explained to each other the reason for this and the purpose as well. There were all good ideas so we took all part of ideas and this still made sense.
There were reasons why we had to revise and this is because of the end of year exam. This is all on Postmodernism and this goes deep into it. we didn't really understand the meanings and so revising together was a good ideas because this would also help get through our piratical project.
Holding the shot steady on target we used a tripod. This equipment allowed use to keep the camera steady and in target to the person or things that the camera is forcing on. The image of the boy we used a tripod to allow the viewers to see the boy dancing and this allowed no shakes to the camera and also makes it accurate.
Framing a shot
This was important and we used it because it allows the audience to see what we are looking at. It is also important because if the boy was more to the left it would look good and if would mean that it is a lack of framing, so when we do this we but the person more to the centre because it shows the audience that this is what we want them to see.
Variety of distance shot
This is important because is shows different points of views of the area when the filming is happening. We put this in mind because this would also keep the audience interested when they watch the music video
Lighting
Lighting was used in the music video because this shows when we add low key it adds tension and suspense. We did this by the light that was around use because there was fluid lights in the location that we was filming.

Questionnaire
Evaluation of finished production
There was many successes of our production and yet again some aspects that didn’t and couldn’t work out to make the whole project a great success. There was situations in planning parts of our assignments that I thought didn’t work out and that was thinking of ideas (which we came up with). For example for our radio advert we had to produce, and promote our music single and convince the viewers how good it is and to buy it, but we had some situations where it was difficult to explain certain aspects. Also as far as the location of our filming, some of the ideas we came up didn’t work because there were times that other people would get in the shot and this is not what we wanted because the music video was only meant to be four characters. Also choosing the best location to suite our music video was very important. However there were other days that ideas did work and was successful. For examplewe wanted our CD cover to relate to an old source and we came up with the idea of Scarface, only a newer version. This was also good because you can see we got the idea from it by the way we split in each picture black and white and i think it also goes along with the title of the cover. This is an example of Postmoderism.
The piece of coursework that I thought was the most successful was the music video because I’m very proud that we got the different kinds of camera shots that we needed to include to show different points of view. The storyline was quite a success with it meaning to be funny and taking in jester old films like Scarface and the Godfather. We make it seem like we are the next mafia but really we take it as a joke by dancing. To be honest the thing that needed work on the music video was the camera handling because there was a scene when we are dancing in the dark and there is light in the background, the camera shakes and this was bad because in the music video there shouldn’t be any since of shank in the camera which. I also thought that the ending they could have been more to tell instead of the use reaching for the bag and the little boy stepping on the bag.
If I was to start a new project, what I would do differently would be to rethink about the camera shoots properly and show the brainstorm more of the shoots that we would have to do. This is because when we first did the brainstorm it was poor and didn’t know most of the camera shots that they were asking for and we was sometimes mainly using the same camera shoot angles, so if i was to start it again I would change that and think as many shot angles I could use. Another thing I would change would be to change the music video and by that I mean change the song so that it would be less stressful. I would choose music that can be done either in the day and night so that we wouldn’t have to depend on the things and wait.
Looking back at the radio avert for our music single I listened to it and I would have changed the part when its the phone call occurred because I thought it was quite long. But other than that, it was great to listen to and thought that we covered what was asked and expected.
As a group we all had things to do, we would discussed together and see who was capable of what and if there was problems we would teach each other or either ask for help. This helped with our overall orgainsation. For example I was responsible of the CD cover because the programme Photoshop was hard for the other members to use, but I still taught them. We all took leaderships in the jobs we were going and looked at it together and thought about it.
In our music video there is a comparison of the real music video in that it is linear (we have a beginning, middle and end), with dance scene in the video and that is what we have in common with the real video but only difference is with our music video we added a storyline, while in the real music video it’s just dance scenes.
The audience for our media project is targeted at teenagers and above. Our group sat down and thought about it by thinking that the music captures the teen’s attention because of the instrument beat and they would find it exciting to watch and also listen.
We were able to meet the ideas of Post Modernism in our project because for example in our music video, we planned that we wanted the audience to think that the three guys are in a mafia. We got that idea from the film the Godfather and Scarface. We changed this in a way to make it funnier and as we catch the little, people would think that something bad would happen like making him pay, but that’s it we didn’t and so we turned it into a big dance off. As I said before, in our CD cover we took the idea of Scarface and used the same style of effects as it on our CD cover and also styled it up with our own ideas.
We throught that the combination of all three media texts went well together. It gave the audience an idea that all three texts linked together and that it helped to give our band a certain image. This image gave an attitude that we were in the mafia, (hard rollers) but still did not take our selves too seriously. We were not too serious about how we wanted people to look at us.
From the audience feedback I have learnt that, in the music video we should had made the ending to the storyline a little bit clearer so that the viewers would be able to understand it more. They also felt that while some of the camera techniques we quite effective, especially during the chase scene, there were some scenes where the camera was not held steady. I also learned that the audience viewers and opinions are important in order for our video to be a success them things that they commented about that would have been added would have also been a good music video.
I have learnt a lot, especially about the technologies from the process of constructing this project. When we started using Adobe Premiere for the editing of the music video we as a group did not know what to do and ho to use it, but with the help of the Premiere guide line from the internet we was about to learn the basic like transferring the recording on to the programme, cutting the clips to make it shorter and many more. We also got learnt some of the effects that was taught to us, for example using the transitions like, fades, horizontal transitions and many more. Garage band (auto editing) was another technology we have to use that was new to the group that also really helped use and we learnt from it. This programme was used to produce our radio advert. As a group we learnt a lot like, adding cool effects onto our voice, and dimming the music video low so that our voice was clearer to hear. There were also different sounds effects that we learnt and used like the telephone ringing noise. Photoshop was another programme technology that was used to create our CD cover and I all ready had experience using the programme, but the other members of the group didn’t know, so I taught them how to use it. We learnt how to change picture size, add effects on to the pictures, create text with special effect and also add colour to text and the image.
I’m pleased with the audiences’ response to the piece. Comments were made about the music video especially and how well it suited the pieces. They loved the camera shots especially the tracking shot of the little boy running away from the three guys. There were comments on the professional looking title and also how well the characters suited them. The widescreen format with the fading’s and transitions helped the music video to look more professional.
